- All federal and state taxes filed and paid (or bond posted)
- Creditor claim period has expired — 90 days from first publication
- All estate assets have been distributed to heirs or devisees
- Any real property has been conveyed by executor's deed and recorded
- Final account approved by the Clerk of Superior Court
AFTER THE CLERK APPROVES
- Clerk issues a formal Order and Judgment closing the estate
- Executor/Administrator is discharged from further liability
