PUBLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must publish in a newspaper of general circulation in the county
  • Publish once a week for four consecutive weeks
  • Creditor deadline is the later of: (1) 3 months from first publication, or (2) 18 months from date of death
  • File the Proof of Publication with the Clerk of Superior Court after the last publication

FILING STEPS

  • Submit notice to newspaper after Letters are issued
  • Confirm first publication date with newspaper
  • After 4th publication, obtain Affidavit of Publication from newspaper
  • File Affidavit of Publication (Proof of Publication) with Clerk of Superior Court
  • Retain copy in estate file
